Reflective Essay
This semester, I learned a lot about writing. At the start of the class, I did not feel very confident. Writing was hard for me because I did not always know how to organize my ideas or stay on topic. Sometimes I did not explain my thoughts very well. But as the semester went on, I practiced more, and I started to understand writing better. Now I feel like I can share my ideas more clearly.
One thing I am good at is being honest in my writing. When I care about something, I can write in a real and meaningful way. This semester, I worked on making my writing more organized, like writing better introductions and thesis statements. Before, my writing did not always have a clear direction, but now I understand how to guide the reader. My “Dream Jar” goal was to feel more confident in my writing, and I think I got better at that.
This class also showed me that writing is not just about doing assignments. Writing is a way to share ideas and tell important stories. In the Language and Storytelling essay, I learned how movies and TV can change how people think about history and culture. That made me see that writing can affect how people see the world. In the Rhetoric of Resistance essay, I learned that words can be very powerful and can help bring change.
My favorite assignment was the Language and Storytelling essay. I liked learning about how movies show history, especially for people who are sometimes left out. It helped me think more and explain my ideas better. It also helped me learn how to use evidence to support what I say. My least favorite assignments were the reflection papers. Sometimes they were hard, and I did not always know what to write. But they still helped me practice.
Overall, this class helped me become a better writer and thinker. I learned how to organize my ideas, support my points, and understand writing more. I still want to get better at explaining my ideas and not repeating myself, but I feel more confident now. In the future, I want to keep improving my writing and use it to share my thoughts with others.
